Description

Poppy is a 2 year old (female) black brindle whippet x greyhound (known as a long hound, not a lurcher) A long hound is one breed of sighthound crossed with another sighthound). It is with great sadness that we have had to make the decision to rehome her. Poppy is in excellent health and all vaccinations are up to date. Poppy will need a home preferably with someone who has experience with rescue dogs, and is retired or works from home or works part time. Poppy would thrive in a quiet, calm home where she can happily curl up on a sofa or on your bed! Poppy is a sensitive soul, very loving, affectionate and loyal. Poppy will need to be the only dog in the household and in a child free home. Poppy is used to being around horses and off lead, stays close when walking in the countryside, which she loves. She walks well on the lead and travels well in the car. She can be bark at other dogs, when on the lead, but this appears to be through excitement and she does not do this all the time and is responsive to a calm command to stop. She is easily re-directed and very food orientated. She can follow basic commands, sit, lay down, spin round, off and back! her recall is good. Poppy loves to be around you and any people she lives with. She likes nothing better than to curl up next to you on the sofa. Blankets are a must! She enjoys being stroked and petted gently and will often roll onto her back with her long legs in the air and enjoy a tummy and chest rub. Poppy exhibits food guarding if another dog or cat were to approach her and we feed her separately from our other animals. (she lives with two cats) Again, we were never made aware of this when we homed her. However, she has never shown any aggression or problem with us if we were to pick up her food bowl when she is eating or be near her when she is eating. We know she had previously been left to scrounge for food as a puppy and was neglected. Poppy is a lovely dog and will make someone a super companion. Only serious enquiries will be considered. Please contact me for further information via the contact/message page, providing information about yourself and why you think you could provide Poppy with a good home. I will not respond to requests for just my telephone number without any information about yourself/family.
