Male Ragdoll cat for adoption in Southampton
I'm looking for a caring new home for my cream-point Ragdoll boy, Rusty. This is a tough decision because I'm very attached to him, but my current living situation makes it difficult for me to keep him.
Rusty is almost 8 months old, born on April 7th, and came from a knowledgeable breeder with his brother Alfie. He currently lives with me and my housemates, one of whom also has a cat.
He’s a 5th-generation pedigree Ragdoll, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, and has documentation. He’s listed on the GCCF non-active register, so he’s meant as a companion.
Rusty’s personality is lovely—he’s gentle, affectionate, calm, cuddly, and quiet, typical for his breed.
The main issue is that Rusty sometimes urinates on soft surfaces like beds, sofas, and pillows. I’ve followed advice from both the breeder and vet, and things have recently improved by using puppy mats, but accidents still happen from time to time, mainly on soft items when he’s exploring. The vet believes this is likely a behavioural issue, possibly related to stress or living with other cats, and expects it could get better if he’s the only cat in the home.
Rusty also has a retained testicle, which means his neutering will require a bit more attention. I’ve been monitoring his condition, but this is something his future owner should be aware of. The vet mentioned that neutering might help with his litter habits, though it’s not certain.
Rusty would be happiest in an indoor-only home with someone who understands Ragdolls or has experience with cats that have unique behaviours, can provide a calm environment, plenty of attention, and is willing to work on his litter issues.
If you’re interested, please tell me about your home and experience, and why you think you would be a good match. It’s very important to me that he finds a stable, loving, and understanding home.
